What is OSU Dinning ID?

Instead of having to pull your ID card out from your wallet or phone case every time you want to pay for food, you can just scan the app on your phone with a single tap. The app works at Oregon State University Dining halls and makes the checkout process much easier and faster. I got the idea because I saw that the barcodes the school was using on the ID cards to pay for food were scannable online. I figured out the format and had the app convert a student's ID number to the barcode format.

The app worked, so I released it on TestFlight for my friends to download. I also added a widget to let you scan your barcode from your lock screen, and added the option to add the ID card to your phone's wallet app. Finally, I created an Apple Watch app to let people pay with their watch as well. I checked with OSU's IT department, but they thought paying with your phone would be too risky for a public release of the app, as students could commit fraud by using other students' ID numbers. Even though I couldn't publicly release the app, it still comes in handy for me and my friends throughout the day
