GoRow

GoRow is an app to replace rowing SpeedCoaches. SpeedCoaches give important information to competitive rowers while they are on the water, such as speed, strokerate, a stopwatch, and distance. Unfortunately, these devices start at $400. With each team needing one for every boat, often at least five to ten, the cost is expensive. With many teams, including my high school team, not being able to afford an adequate amount of SpeedCoaches, I set out to change this.

Throughout the year, I developed and tested the app with my team. It soon had just as many features as the full SpeedCoach, and worked just as well. I also created a magnetic system to attach the user's phone with a waterproof sleeve to the boat. I plan to make this app free to use and add more features for teams, detailed on my website. I've taken a break from developing the application since I graduated high school, but plan to finish it for my honors thesis in college.
